Lastly, it's AFFORDABLE. Sure, you can shell out up to about $450 - 650 for a desk in places in the city that are arguably awesome and it's still a deal. Here you get some real Oakland smack down value. We are their tatted little slightly dirty brother in the development phase East Bay. That does not mean we are not serious entrepreneurs. It just means we have a certain style when we light things on fire.

Downtown would be nice, especially since that's where the majority of hotels are, but really, Saskatoon isn't a very big city.

New vs. Reno
I've considered the Rumley Building to be a great space for coworking. To my knowledge, there are several vacancies, and there should be the potential to include an office space, considering that's what the building used to be. It's close to two or three hotels and the bus depot, and when the 25th street connection is in place between Idylwyld and 1st Ave, it will soon be an established center among future commercial properties. Of course, there are several other existing properties that could be used.
Building new would certainly be an entirely different scenario, considering how much planning and expense would be required, but building a new structure around a coworking space would mean that several other businesses would have an opportunity to join as tenants. It could also mean that the highest considerations for environmental construction could be applied. Something like a two storey rammed earth structure would not only be terribly energy efficient, solid-built, and low-toxicity, it would also be the first of its kind in Saskatchewan.

Objective
The primary objective of this project is to create a simple, neutral, extensible database for coworking spaces around the world.
Vision
We are designing and developing a RESTful web service with JSON and XML interfaces that can be extended and integrated into various applications such as commercial listing services, city directories, and community coworking groups. By keeping the central database as simple as possible it creates a neutral home for the data and doesn't try to do too much. By being extensible, the data can be utilized in many different ways and these implementations are completelyindependent.

The programme is to allow members of different coworking locations access to participating locations around the world. A Coworking Visaallows active members of one space, when traveling, to use another coworking space, gratis. Terms vary from space to space, with regard to hours of operation, reservation requirements, etc. Participation in the Coworking Visa is free and does not require an application or a vetting process . Coworking Visa: Your Passport around the world
The programme is to allow members of different coworking locations access to participating locations around the world. A Coworking Visaallows active members of one space, when traveling, to use another coworking space, gratis. Terms vary from space to space, with regard to hours of operation, reservation requirements, etc. Participation in the Coworking Visa is free and does not require an application or a vetting process . The only requirement is a warm welcome to those members that visit! Find a particpating coworking space or announce your space's participation

Un-Urban Coffee House
There's this place I've been coming to off and on for a few years, the
UnUrban Coffeehouse in West L.A. (on Pico & Urban). I stopped in
today, and like many afternoons, the place is quiet. I asked the
barista how business was, and she said something to the extent of,
"not so great in the daytime". She went on to say that the space's
rent had just gone up another $500; some of the local businesses had
recently shut down, probably due to the either the elevating rent
and/or lack of interest. (For example, a once-popular record store
just closed.)
Anyway, I've been thinking for some time now that this would be a
great place to begin a coworking arrangement of some sort. The place
is cozy, dressed like a funky home. You know: Mismatched furniture,
bookcases, chinese lamps, ceiling fans, table lamps of various sizes
and shapes, a small stage with an old piano and speakers mounted on
the ceiling...There's even a few rows of movie or playhouse seats,
perfect for viewings.
And, of course, good coffee and treats, and free WiFi.
I believe the owner would be willing to make some type of arrangement
to allow us to cowork here. I know they've already got AA Meetings in
the early mornings (around 7am), 7 days of the week. Since business
is slow after noon (until the evenings, when they have a long-running
Open Mic every night), perhaps we could arrange something for the
mid-afternoons. I was looking for a nice, un-Starbuck-like place to
settle this afernoon, and I found just what I was looking for in this space.
There's both dark and light areas in here, so you can even take a nap
or relax in quiet in one room, or hang in the daylight in the othere.
Lots of open air.
Unfortunately, I fear this place won't be around too much longer if
they don't generate some type of extra income. With some of us
looking for a space to hang (and work), the Un-Urban could be just the
place for perfect partnership. Open your favorite search engine to
find a few articles about the place - but also swing by sometime,
check it out, so that you get a real feel for the place. It's just
down the street from Santa Monic College, just up the street from
Ocean Park.

From 1998 to 2006, I had an office for my laboratory, Minčių sodas, http://www.ms.lt, at Liaudies kūrybos klubas Atzalynas in Aukstutinis Pavilnys, Grūdų g 6, Vilnius, Lithuania. I supported the community center and also engaged participants and neighbors. It was great! But the building was taken away by the city and the local community center, was supposed to be repaired, but instead the doors were simply removed, making the building unusable, and it has been left abandoned. It's possible that it might be revived some day.

Becoming a resident of Yaletown 209 is easy. Visit the space and you can get started on the spot. Choose from our monthly or yearly rental option. We even have a daily rate. We are open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
Membership
Taking resident in Yaletown 209 includes full use of the space and amenities, and is based on a monthly or yearly rent-a-desk fee. We welcome people of all profession who enjoy working in a shared space and interacting with a diverse group of people.

From 1998 to 2006, I had an office for my laboratory, Minčių sodas, http://www.ms.lt, at Liaudies kūrybos klubas Atzalynas in Aukstutinis Pavilnys, Grūdų g 6, Vilnius, Lithuania. I supported the community center and also engaged participants and neighbors. It was great! But the building was taken away by the city and the local community center, was supposed to be repaired, but instead the doors were simply removed, making the building unusable, and it has been left abandoned. It's possible that it might be revived some day.
In August 2010, Mindaugas Danys has set up a Facebook page - Hub Vilnius, in order to promote the concept of coworking space similar to the one in the Hub Network, in order to build the group of stakeholders and eventually open up the first permanent coworking center in Vilnius by the end of 2010.
